However, you got to give it to the man for his optimism. For all you know, this is the Indian century, unless of course Vietnam, Bangladesh and the likes steal some of our country's thunder, because whatever happened to our per-capita income. Perhaps, we've just gotten a little lazy. Not all, because we certainly are doing some good work on the vaccine diplomacy side of things. Hmmm... shipping more vaccines than we have for ourselves... maybe stupid, maybe masterstroke PR. Considering that much of our population is likely to be millennial-ish (average age is what, 27-28?), the latter is more likely.
Back to the markets. Oil prices, bond yields, rising Corona cases and the works have each lashed the markets of late. They've all given big traders ample excuses to slay the retail Lilliputians. Not sure if there's likely to be something of a Gamestop moment in India, which looks like a much more regulated market than the USA. But maybe, if we're betting big on India, someone small fry is surely going to figure a way to game the system all over again (after the various scams that have come to pass). Perhaps then, the rest of the retail team will learn a new trick.
Meanwhile, take note that there's usually bloodshed on the last Thursday of every month. In fact, the markets are usually volatile around Thursdays because of something called options expiry. Yep, you probably know about this from a long, long time. Then again, kindly check the title of the blog. I'm a newbie here. Nevertheless, it pains me to see that regular folk get strangled nearly every Thursday. Clearly, people aren't taking notice. Hopefully, we are not watching too many channels with market pundits giving stock tips. This line from a popular Youtuber rings in my head every time I hear the word 'stock tips'. Jisne lee tip, uski hui dip. (Whoever takes stock tips is likely to watch his wealth dip.)
I'll try and do a post on monthly futures and options expiry after I get a hang of it. If any of you read this and have suggestions, please leave a comment. Much appreciated.
Peace.
